John Boswall (2 mai 1920 – 6 juin 2011) était un acteur britannique, célèbre pour avoir incarné Emmanuel Goldstein dans '1984' et Wyvern dans 'Pirates of the Caribbean : Le Secret du coffre maudit'. Né John Stuart le 2 mai 1920 dans l'Oxfordshire, en Angleterre, il étudia à l'Université d'Oxford et servit en Birmanie pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale avant de se lancer dans une carrière d'acteur. À la télévision, il apparut dans de nombreuses séries britanniques telles que 'Paul Temple' (1971), 'Edward the Seventh' (1975), 'The Onedin Line' (1976), 'Love in a Cold Climate' (1980), 'Sapphire & Steel' (1982), 'EastEnders' (1990, 2002), 'Agatha Christie's Poirot' (1991), 'Drop the Dead Donkey' (1993), 'Rome' (2005) et 'Terry Pratchett's Hogfather' (2006). Au théâtre, il se produisit notamment avec la Royal Shakespeare Company dans 'Doctor Faustus' (1974) et 'Cymbeline' (1974), ainsi qu'au Royal National Theatre dans 'Le Bourgeois gentilhomme' de Molière (1992). Parmi ses films, on compte 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' (1984), 'Three Men and a Little Lady' (1990), 'The Wind in the Willows' (1996), 'The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc' (1999) et 'Ladies in Lavender' (2004).
