Chelah Horsdal

Chelah Horsdal is een Canadese actrice. Ze staat bekend om haar vaste rollen in de televisieseries Hell on Wheels, When Calls the Heart en The Man in the High Castle, terugkerende rollen in Stargate SG-1, Level Up, Arrow en Star Trek: Discovery, en voor haar rollen in de films Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem en Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Horsdal werd geboren in Vancouver, Brits-Columbia. Ze zegt: 'Ik ben geboren uit hippie-ouders, omringd door vrienden en familie op de boerderij Headacres.' Ze is de dochter van moeder Lindsay en folkmuzikant vader Valdy. Ze groeide op met haar moeder in Kitsilano en bezocht Bayview Elementary en daarna Lord Byng Secondary. Op haar 18e begon ze met modellenwerk in lokaal opgenomen tv-shows en commercials, waarna ze een jaar in het Caribisch gebied woonde. Horsdal begon haar acteercarrière in 2002. Sindsdien is ze verschenen in meer dan 75 commercials, evenals in films en op televisie. Ze speelde hoofd- en bijrollen in Hell on Wheels, The Man In the High Castle, When Calls the Heart, Candiland, Patterson's Wager, Three Weeks, Three Kids, On Strike For Christmas, Marley & Me: The Puppy Years en Lifetime's The Client List. Ze had hoofdrollen in Lying To Be Perfect en Mrs. Miracle. Andere credits zijn hoofdrollen in de film Burning Mussolini, Nickelodeon's Gym Teacher: The Movie, co-starring met Christopher Meloni en Amy Sedaris, Flirting with Forty met Heather Locklear en de FOX tv-pilot The Virgin of Akron, Ohio. Bijrollen zijn onder andere Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem voor 20th Century Fox en Possession naast Sarah Michelle Gellar, evenals Elegy met Ben Kingsley en Penélope Cruz en Rise of the Planet of the Apes met John Lithgow en James Franco. Haar prestaties in de korte films Dark Room (2006) en The Hostage (2010) leverden haar beide Leo-nominaties op voor Beste Prestatie. Terugkerende rollen zijn onder andere Battlestar Galactica, Exes & Ohs, The L Word, Stargate: SG1, Saved, DaVinci's Inquest, Whistler, Blackstone, Clue en Cartoon Network's Level Up. The Hostage, waarvoor Horsdal werd genomineerd voor Beste Actrice bij de 2011 Leo's, co-starde en werd geproduceerd door Tahmoh Penikett en Aleks Paunovic. Horsdal kreeg nog vier Leo Award-nominaties voor haar gastrol in Arctic Air (2013), voor Hell on Wheels en When Calls the Heart, en voor Patterson's Wager.
