Mischa Barton

Mischa Anne Marsden Barton (geboren op 24 januari 1986) is een Brits-Amerikaanse film-, televisie- en toneelactrice. Ze begon haar carrière op het podium, met optredens in Tony Kushner's 'Slavs!' en de hoofdrol in James Lapine's 'Twelve Dreams' in het Lincoln Center in New York. Haar schermdebuut was een gastrol in de Amerikaanse soap 'All My Children' (1995) en als stemactrice in de Nickelodeon-tekenfilmserie 'KaBlam!' (1996–97). Haar eerste belangrijke filmrol was als hoofdpersoon in het drama 'Lawn Dogs' (1997). Ze speelde in grote films zoals de romantische komedie 'Notting Hill' (1999) en M. Night Shyamalan's psychologische thriller 'The Sixth Sense' (1999). Later verscheen ze in de onafhankelijke dramafilm 'Lost and Delirious' (2001) en had een gastrol als vriendin van Evan Rachel Wood in de ABC-serie 'Once and Again' (2001–02). Ze werd bekend door haar rol als Marissa Cooper in de Fox-serie 'The O.C.' (2003–2006), waarvoor ze twee Teen Choice Awards won. Entertainment Weekly noemde haar de 'It Girl' van 2003. Sindsdien speelde ze in films zoals 'St Trinian's' (2007), 'Closing the Ring' (2007) en 'Assassination of a High School President' (2008). Ze keerde terug naar televisie met de kortstondige CW-serie 'The Beautiful Life' (2009). In 2012 speelde ze opnieuw op het podium in de Ierse productie van 'Steel Magnolias'. Ze had ook rollen in onafhankelijke films zoals 'Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain' (2014) en 'Starcrossed' (2014). Recent was ze te zien in de MTV-serie 'The Hills: New Beginnings' (2019–2021) en had een gastrol in de herstart van de Australische soap 'Neighbours' (2023).
