Masamune Shirow is een internationaal gerenommeerd mangakunstenaar, geboren als Masanori Ota op 23 november 1961. Hij is vooral bekend van de manga Ghost in the Shell, die later is verwerkt tot twee bioscoop-animefilms, twee anime-televisieseries, een anime-televisiefilm en verschillende videogames.
